This book has plenty of small arms, covering (roughly) the late 1800's through 1972, with plenty of pictures, diagrams, and a quick history for each one with a pretty good overview of the disassembly for many of them. I wholeheartedly recommend it, especially at less than $15. I wish it had more information on the history/development of the arms. Maybe I'm asking for too much because it would have to be a huge book. Besides, the description says "basic" and really, it goes way beyond basic already. Pick up a copy. It's a bargain at this price.The seller (Brooks Bookshoppe) is 5 stars, with a well-described book that was packaged with care and they sent a book that is darn close to new condition, which is pretty amazing for a 40 year old book.
This is a great reference about small arms of the world. It gives much more detailed information not found in a Shooter's Bible or Gun Digest. This should be part of anyone's library that has an interest in firearms.
At 768 pages!, the book includes history and catalog with index of guns. Most guns are photographed (B&W) or at least illustrated and important ones are with expanded view. This is the best book I have seem on guns. I have not seen later editions that contain fewer pages.
