As others have mentioned, this book is riddled with errors. Its very frustrating not knowing if I'm doing things wrong or the instructions are wrong. Many of the menus shown are different from my 2014 edition. The books says an item an extruded item is grey, when it in fact yellow. Only by constantly looking at the completed examples am I able to reverse engineer how to accomplish a given task.For the next edition of this book the author needs to test it out on a Solidworks neophyte. Sadly I bought both books, but am only 1/3 the way through the first one. The errata on the SDC publications website is pitiful; four errors total. There are certainly more than that. It could be a useful book were it not for the errors.
very efficient method of learning. I find it very helpful to be walked through a part creation process. There are some problems though - little mistakes and omissions in process sometimes making it difficult to complete tasks. It is good to have someone knowledgeable to help with instruction if necessary. Fortunately - it is not very often needed. I am giving it a 5 stars rating despite those little issues. I recommend the book. This learning method works.
More errors from rewrites than I can count. Examples don't all work. Never again!

A paper back book is always a good reference to look up stuff. I can take it any where and use it. A DVD reference shows more detail, but unless it is done very well looking for a specific example is very difficult. The book has a lot of examples. Print size is good.The book is not a full reference, no book can possible cover all questions. In summary yes I learned from the book and picked up techniques that were not in other references. Solidworks has a lot of features. I recommend it.
