I have read every single one of Ellen Hopkins books and this book is another reason why I will continue to pick up whatever book she writes. This book is about sex trafficking, and while some people may not feel comfortable with the topic, it could be worse, if that makes sense. Ellen covers the very surface of sex trafficking: drugs, rape, the legal aspect, basically it is not as graphic as speaking about sex trafficking could be. The imagery and words Ellen uses allows you to connect to the characters. Personally, I related to two of the characters (Eden & Ginger), more so because I thought they were truly forced into the life. If you are familiar with any of Hopkins previous books, this is written in the same type of format, and she has a way of writing about difficult concepts and making it a learning experience.At this point, I will stop babbling. If you have read Tricks, then pick this sequel and find out how the 5 teens come back from their life of tricking.
I had no idea there was going to be a sequel to Tricks. I logged on to Amazon one day and it was on the front page that I could preorder (which I did immediately because I am obsessed with Ellen Hopkins' work). At first, I had to pump myself up to read it. Please don't think I thought it would be bad! If you are familiar with this author, you know the emotional roller coaster of her novels. It's just something I have to prepare myself for whenever I start a new one. Traffick did not disappoint me one bit. Everything flowed flawlessly and I was completely absorbed into the story. It was not an easy read though, oh no. Every few chapters I had to put it down just to absorb everything and bring my brain back to reality. I just loved it! I'll read it again, I know I will.
I've read almost all of Ellen Hopkins book, and this one didn't disappoint. The characters draw you in and their stories keep you wanting to know what's next. The way she ties the story lines and characters together really makes it feel like you are seeing one huge story from multiple angles. What's great is you don't have to read all of the books, or read them in any certain order (except for a few), to get a complete story.
I love Ellen Hopkins. I find that she is a genius when it comes to writing and she has this incredible ability to to reach many age groups with her writing. The style in which she writes makes any one able to follow the story so well, and she brings all the charters to life in such a way that you feel like you know them personally. And I love that she isn't afraid to write about the "hard stuff" that is going on in the world that effects everyone one way or another. Anyway, this book was just as incredible as I thought it would be. I don't expect anything less when it comes to this author :)
I've always enjoyed Ellen Hopkins' books. And this book was... Amazing. I didn't know what to expect. And with each character that I read, I desperately needed closure for them. They deserved it. I can only hope that there will be a part three to this. They're stories are not yet over, because although they found a little closure, I'm sure there is more in store for them.
I have read all but two of her books. She doesn't disappoint with this book! Her books are thought provoking and deeply moving. The first book I read of hers was Impulse, and I have been hooked ever since. I recommend this book, along with most of her other books. The only two I am so-so on are in her adult fiction line. I love all of the young adult books.
I have always loved Ellen Hopkins way of writing! I have been reading her books since I was thirteen years old, and am now twenty-six! She does amazing job with capturing the realness of multiple issues going on in society! Highly recommend any and all of her books!
Love Ellen Hopkins, I was so excited for this release and out of all of her books she's written, I felt I had the most closure with this one. It really just gave all the characters a relieved bow and closure for all the hardships they endured from Tricks to Traffick. It was a great sequel and I can't wait for more to come !
