The stories in this book are great, and the book is written in a magazine type format. This made it a great book to gift to my busy family members that don't feel like they have time to sit down to read a book but can pick it up and read for a bit at a time.The history is fascinating and seems pretty travel inspiring.
This skillfully written book makes the past 100 years of National Park history come to life. Through extensive research and hands-on experiences, the author conveys so many wonderful insights about these treasured parts of our country. I especially enjoyed the rare photos and snippets found throughout the book. Reading this is truly an enlightening and educational experience. With my newly gained knowledge, I am now more motivated than ever to visit the parks that I have not yet seen. This is an excellent resource for my future travels -- j.e.
A history of America's National Parks, focusing on a few to illustrate the variety. Not a guide book. Entertaining and inspiring. Makes you want to get out there and hug a tree, splash some water, climb a trail, listen to a Ranger, watch a sunrise, touch a fern, watch an elk.
Got it as a gift and it was well-received! I have a feeling the receiver won’t read all of it anytime soon and wish I had read more of it before gifting it because it was well written and had loads of pictures and seems like a great book!
I'm only about 100 pages in so far, but I am really enjoying this book. Great history of the National Parks in a beautiful volume!
a bit much for elementary age but kept the teachers spark going as we used national arks as a geography unit
