Based upon the free sample, I expected a very taut, suspenseful read. Unfortunately, the sample was the best part. There were some suspenseful moments later in the book, but there was also far too much repetitive dialogue. I found myself thinking, “They already said that.†I also mistakenly expected more forensics. The book was ok but I won’t ever read it again, and I’m not really interested in reading more by this author.
Amazon lists this book at 208 pages, short for my taste but I am looking for a new author. What a disappointment! My Kindle lists the last page at about 130 but says it’s only 65% complete....the rest of the book is an intro to each of the next 5 books! REALLY?!?! Gave it 2 stars only because the plot had some promise, but agree with another reviewer who states it ends abruptly. Up to that point it was was entertaining with just a few somewhat unbelievable details, but ok, whatever. But to end after 130 pages without something in the original Amazon description stating this is a novelette or short story? I just find this unbelievable and disappointing.
This was a great book. I read a lot of books but it usually takes close to a month some times longer to finish one. I finished Cold Terror in less than a week. Since I don't read every day I think I did good. I was please with the style of writing Sleeman did. This was one of the best books I ever read. The story was believable and moved real smooth. If I had to make a complaint about it it would be that there wasn't enough on the spirituality of the group. Also at the end of the book all you knew was that Hanna and Gage knew some about Christianity and they were able to see some of God's work in their lives.It didn't give any indication that either was saved just that they prayed some.I do recommend this book to anyone who likes Christian fiction. I can't wait to read the next book in the Cold Harbor series, in fact I will start right after I finish sending this .
Hannah and Gage had history between them, now together again, the feeling is intense. Life for Hannah has been nothing but unsettling, with her husband’s death, now a witness, and police think other wise. Why was someone after her, with the intent to kill. The person and his coming and goings were of a skilled Seal. The rare moments when they were together, showed them the love hadn’t died. Could they become a family. Enjoyable story and plot, not as action packed as her “White Knightâ€series which was by her.
This book is truly amazing. The suspense starts on page one and stays at a high level until the end. Hannah and Gage were once engaged but broke up, each marrying and becoming widowed. Gage, a former Navy Seal has started his own special security company and rescues a woman in distress only to find it is Hannah. Someone wants Hannah dead--but who and why? And was her late husband's death really an accident as first believed or something much more ominous.Gage has been widowed when his wife was killed by a drunk driver and their small daughter suffered a brain injury. Gage has his own force of security agents working to keep Hannah alive, and is finding his feelings for Hannah resurfacing. He will make any sacrifice to keep her and her son, David safe. Hannah is struggling with awakening feelings for Gage, as well, but has a great deal of trust issues.I could hardly stop reading, and I am certainly looking forward to the next book in this series. This is a great author to keep our sights on.
I like the author's writing style. Fast paced and engaging. I loved the motivation behind how the team was built.It seemed like a really short story, but I'm looking forward to reading more in the serious.
I liked the book , but the ending was kind of abrupt and not really climatic. Still buying the next book.
Very good first book of the series. I liked the hero and his team as well as the heroine's profession of recreation artist for the police
